About Kiyomi

The warm glow of wooden accents and subtle lighting invites diners into an ambiance that harmonizes comfort with elegance. Throughout the evening, the atmosphere at Kiyomi evokes a quiet calm, allowing the focus to gently fall on the evolving flavors presented. Conversations blend with the clink of cutlery, while around, diners seem equally captivated by the array of dishes arriving at tables, each plate telling its own story. Attention to detail is evident not only in the décor but also in how the menu balances adventurous Asian inspirations with familiarity, a factor often highlighted in various Kiyomi reviews shared online.

An optimal dining experience here hinges on the diversity found within the menu, where delicacies move beyond sushi and stir-fries to include less expected delights that showcase regional influences across Asia. The texture of a thoughtfully prepared bao or the subtle spice in a curry layered with coconut nuance can surprise and satisfy. It's noticeable how some dishes, while beautifully composed, lean towards subtlety, which may appeal more to those preferring nuanced over bold flavors. Browsing through Kiyomi photos reveals just how artfully each item is plated, reinforcing the restaurant’s commitment to presentation alongside taste.

The dance between service pace and attentiveness creates a rhythm that neither hurries nor lingers unnecessarily, reflecting well on the staff’s engagement without reaching for overt friendliness. Pricing here finds a middle ground; it's neither prohibitively expensive nor unusually cheap, reflecting the quality and freshness of ingredients used. Patrons browsing Kiyomi restaurant feedback will likely encounter repeated appreciation for the thoughtful curation of dishes and the seamless integration of contemporary Asian cuisine, although some might note occasional inconsistencies during busier hours. Overall, the experience offers a quiet, layered culinary journey that complements the city’s vibrant dining scene.

One of the best dinners we had during our trip. The owner curated the menu based on his travels. Everything we ordered was delicious. The sashimi and pork belly will melt in your mouth. Cocktails are made to prepare your palette before your meal, as well as after. Stop by if you get the chance!

Solid Japanese–Chinese fusion spot. After a few days of tasting menus, I was craving rice and dim sum, so I decided to see what a highly rated Asian restaurant in Eastern Europe looked like. It felt less touristy than the well-known ramen shop in the main square, though that didn’t automatically mean better food. Getting a seat without a reservation was tricky. At 8 p.m. on a Thursday, the dining room was packed (all the other popular Asian restaurants were also super busy). I eventually settled for a bar seat. Service was quick, though I did wish the bar faced the open kitchen instead of a wall. The glass-walled prep area was right behind me, and it would’ve added some energy to the experience. Food was a mix of Japanese/sushi and Chinese, and most of the popular dishes seemed to be the latter. Along with the chirashi don and an eel hand roll, I got the lobster chang feun and the dim sum. People who sat next to me raved about the chang feun, but I thought the lobster meat was a bit rubbery and its flavors weren’t all that interesting. The dim sum, on the other hand, was genuinely good. Juicy filling, nicely wrapped, and topped with cooked fish roe for a fun texture. The eel hand roll was fine, and the chirashi don was better than expected. Generous with the fish, and I liked the shrimp. It wasn’t the delicate botan ebi I’m used to, but something firmer, probably local, with an oddly satisfying chew. Perhaps not the best Asian restaurant in town, but if you’re craving Asian food in Zagreb, this is one of the better options to scratch that itch.

I celebrated my birthday at Kiyomi in Zagreb today and it was honestly such a great experience. Everything there feels extra fancy, from the gorgeous interior to everyone wearing kimonos, which I absolutely loved. We ate a lot (like… really a lot ) and yes, the dinner was on the expensive side, we ended up paying around 100 €, but it totally matched the vibe. The cocktails were amazing, the food was great, and every dish looked and tasted incredible. Our waiter deserves a special shout-out: he was super nice, really funny, did an amazing job…The service overall was top-tier. All in all, we loved everything about it, and I’m definitely coming back again, maybe even for another celebration. Kiyomi really delivers on the “fancy night out” experience.

We had dinner here last night, and ended up ordering a lot of dishes to share, everything was incredible. The food was genuinely amazing from start to finish. We started with the miso soup and temari sushi, and the tuna tartar was honestly the best I’ve ever had, so full of flavour. The chicken dumplings were delicious, the shrimp & lobster rice rolls were great, and the vegetable tempura was really good too. We also loved the chicken teriyaki, the Korean beef, and the eggplant makhani, not a single dish disappointed. The team were all super friendly and welcoming, and the overall ambience was great. The only downside was the hostess, who felt like she was rushing us both when we arrived and again when we were leaving. Aside from that, it was a fantastic experience and I’d definitely recommend it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This place is absolutely top! From the very first moment, the service was on the highest level, starting with the warm welcome from the hostess and continuing with every single person who took care of us throughout the lunch. The sashimi was exceptional, fresh and beautifully presented. A truly memorable dining experience, we can’t wait to come back! We need such a restaurant in Split

Kiyomi is a truly unique restaurant for Zagreb. From the moment you enter, you get a sense of class and sophistication. The hostess welcomes you and guides you to the restaurant, which is tucked behind a screen and not visible from the entrance. The walk past the glass-enclosed kitchen allows you to see the chefs preparing food with meticulous precision. As for the food — there’s nothing to criticize. The Japanese and Asian cuisine is exceptional, with flawless presentation. The staff are professional and friendly, always with a smile. Dining at Kiyomi felt like a truly world-class experience, and I look forward to returning. My personal favorite was the Korean skewer with kimchi — absolutely outstanding.

Elegant setting with lots of little details that make it a pleasant dining experience. Things like a small elegant table light and the ceramic plates and bowls. I would say this is a good date night place for drinks and sushi. Mondays they have an all you can eat dumpling special for 28 Euros. I opted for the dim sum business lunch for 20 Euros. Miso soup (no tofu or seaweed), har gow (minced shrimp and pork which is not traditional), char siew pow ( pork with Korean bbq sauce also not traditional) and finally the chicken dumpling (minced chicken, shitaki and garam marsala?). The non traditional items make it less enjoyable. I do appreciate the quality and detail they put in the food. The pow had a very nice light texture. The service is impeccable. The only other thing that doesn’t match the ambiance is the music. Thumping base like a bar/club. Definitely not relaxing. They do have a lot of drinks. Not sure if I would be back unless I want sushi or drinks.

Went for the all you can eat dim sum on Mondays, the food was good with interesting flavor combos however, some of the dim sum's dough was overpowering the flavor of the filling. The way it worked was by them bringing you one by one each portion of the menu and then if you have time left they do it again, over all left satisfied and full. The service was good and the drinks were very flavorful and overall the dishes were aesthetically pleasing.
